MILITARY EXCLUSIVE: Hegseth to double cuts to generals, admirals in major Pentagon shakeup
War Secretary Pete Hegseth will announce plans to reduce by 20% the number of positions reserved for generals and admirals during his State of the Force address on Wednesday.Hegseth approved reduction plans for the Army, Navy, Air Force and the military’s joint pool earlier this month, according to memos seen by Fox News Digital. The services were directed to implement the plans and complete the reductions by Jan. 1, 2027.
Wednesday’s address in Quantico, Va. is expected to lay out Hegseth’s priorities for the military in the year ahead, with the reduction in senior leadership positions among the changes he will unveil.
The new target doubles the 10% overall reduction in general and flag officer positions Hegseth ordered last year as part of his effort to streamline the military’s senior ranks. That earlier directive separately called for a 20% reduction in active-duty four-star positions and a 20% reduction in National Guard general officers.
Hegseth dubbed that effort “less generals, more GIs,” arguing that reducing senior headquarters positions would push resources and authority toward troops closer to the fight.
“This is not a slash-and-burn exercise meant to punish high-ranking officers,” Hegseth said when he announced the earlier reductions in May 2025. “This has been a deliberative process, working with the Joint Chiefs of Staff with one goal: maximizing strategic readiness and operational effectiveness by making prudent reductions in the general and flag officer ranks.”
The man gets results, too. Excellent ones.
Marine Corps meets 2026 goal with over 31,000 new recruits
The Marine Corps met its fiscal year 2026 recruitment goal with over 31,000 enlisted Marines, thanks to a high volume of interested applicants and strong retention.According to a recent release, the Corps brought in 31,250 new recruits, along with 1,672 officers and 3,503 prior-service reserve Marines, in what the service calls a “historic, department-wide rebound.”
“Our success this year is a testament to the disciplined execution of our elite recruiting force on the streets of America,” Commanding General of the Marine Corps Recruiting Command Maj. Gen. Walker M. Field said in the release.
It also happens to be a testament to the ma∂ skills and right-thinking, properly functioning brain of a certain SecWar who, from Day One of his tenure, swore that he intended to renew/restore America’s commitment to a strong, fit, competent military machine—a commitment which, under previous D卐M☭CRAT ruling juntas (whose visceral, implacable hostility to the US military is the stuff of legend, truly epic), had been at best marginal, staggering on down to the worse-case scenario of abject, purposeful sabotage.
Along the way, Hegseth has also dragged the (no longer) embarrassing US armed forces out of the dismal, putrid Sargasso it for decades had languished in, a Sargasso filled up to neck-level with Wokester moonbattery, “transgender” lunacy, physical-fitness standards jiggery-pokery for purposes of placing a plus-sized thumb on the scales in favor of the whining hordes of limp-wristed poofters; effete, twee Mama’s boys; grotesquely obese bull daggers; boot camp DIs in dresses and spike-heel pumps; and sundry other creampuffs, misfits, and plain old losers who simply can't cut the mustard.
Said renewal/restoration in turn is bringing about a wholesomely proud, positive outlook amongst the soldiery of all ranks, without whom etc etc.
