Not sustainable
Making your life worse, one sip at a time: It’s what they are, it’s who they do.
McDonald’s lame ‘sustainable’ straws won’t save the planet— but WILL make your life a little worse
Fearless green crusader and fast food behemoth McDonald’s is keeping up the good fight against the environmental menace of … plastic straws.Yes, the chain is moving nationally to a “sustainable” drinking straw — but diners aren’t happy with these morality tubes.
“Morality tubes.” Oh, I like that one—I like it a LOT.
Customers describe them as flimsy, say they can’t handle Mickey D’s milkshakes (if the shake machine is working) and say they make the sodas taste worse.
Some even report having to use two to three times as many straws as they did before.
So, not really very “sustainable” after all.
Even if the flimsier plastic straws are better than paper straws, which all too many places embraced when the whole bogus “Plastic straws are killing the planet” fad began.
In fact, fractionally reducing plastic use in the West is irrelevant to the supposed crisis of plastic dumped in the oceans.
Count this as another green policy that makes about as much sense as if it had sprung straight from the grease-stained desk of Mayor McCheese.
No more gas stoves! Use induction ranges!
No more steaks! Eat a bunch of ground-up mealworms!
No energy exploration in America! Buy more expensive fuel from countries that pollute vastly more than we do in extracting it!
Strangely, these policies do seem to have one reliable effect: Making life worse and more costly, in small but steady increments, for the less well-off.
“Strangely”? No, ‘fraid not. Try PREDICTABLY, that one fits a whole lot better. In truth, making life more miserable for everyone but themselves is the underlying point of the whole Leftist agenda, when you get right down to it. Think of it as a sort of “sharing the wealth” of misery and you won’t go far wrong.
