A tale of two obstructions of Congressional proceedings
A felony, that is, but with two VERY different outcomes for the perpetrators. The first one you already know of, the infamous J6 “insurrection.” A refresher on how that all worked out:
Of all the evil that Biden has perpetrated, none is so vile as the imprisonment of Americans known as the J6 defendants. Daily, they suffer cruel and unusual punishment; they are incarcerated in solitary confinement, their medical needs are ignored, and they do not have proper legal defense. The term "American Gulag" aptly describes their ongoing plight.
The Epoch Times video titled "The Real Story of January 6 "reveals the truth that has been hidden from the American people. While a narrative has been set that what took place that day was an insurrection, key events and witnesses have been ignored until now. The documentary takes an unvarnished look at police use of force and the deaths that resulted in some measure from it.”
Robert Spencer asserts that "it is by now abundantly clear that the Jan 6 "insurrection" was not the work of Trump supporters, but of Leftist plants in the crowd at the Capitol[.] Any lingering doubt about this has now been put definitively to rest by the revelation that those who ran the House Jan. 6 Committee show trial did not preserve mountains of evidence that apparently disproved the left's official narrative about what happened on that fateful day. Like the Stalinists they are, it looks as if they framed their enemies and then destroyed the evidence of their own crime."
A handy January 6 fact sheet points out important information about what occurred on January 6, 2021.
The overwhelming majority of protesters did not act badly or violently.
Body-worn camera and independent video show the D.C. Metropolitan Police launching an aggressive and unnecessary offensive against the crowd assembled on the west lawn.
Excessive force caused the deaths of four Trump-supporters.
Despite persistent claims, no police officers died as a result of injuries sustained on Jan. 6.
There was a deliberate delay concerning the protection of the Capitol as Nancy Pelosi refused to discharge her proper duties.
The surveillance video viewed by Tucker Carlson's team has not been made available to defense attorneys, arguably in violation of defendants' constitutional rights.
While high-powered law firms defended foreign terrorists in Guantanamo Bay free of charge, the Jan. 6 defendants receive no such legal assistance.
Julie Kelly asserts that "fair trials are impossible for January 6 defendants since judges on the D.C. District Court have denied every chance of venue motion ... insisting that residents of a city that voted 93% for Joe Biden in 2020 can be fair and impartial.”
The second incident of obstruction of Congress, a felony which helped land most of the J6 “rioters” in durance vile, was this one:
Democrat Pulls Capitol Hill Fire Alarm Amid Shutdown Talks
Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-N.Y.) pulled a fire alarm in the Cannon House office building amidst efforts to avert a shutdown.“In the lead-up to a House vote on a measure to extend federal funding for 45 days, an audible alarm went off in the Cannon House office building that prompted the Capitol Police to evacuate staff,” reports Axios.
A spokeswoman for Bowman told Axios that the congressman “did not realize he would trigger a building alarm as he was rushing to make an urgent vote” and that he “regrets any confusion.”
It doesn’t seem that Republicans are buying that story. Reps. Harriet Hageman (R-Wyo.) and Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) are both drafting resolutions to censure Bowman, and Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-N.Y.), has already drafted a resolution to expel Bowman from the House.
Censure appears more likely, as it only requires a simple majority, while expulsion requires a two-thirds vote, meaning that a significant number of Democrats would have to join with Republicans to expel a member of their party. And that’s not likely to happen. According to the report, there is footage of Bowman pulling the alarm, and at least one Democrat is all but denying that it is, in fact, Bowman.
“It appears from the footage [of the incident] to be him,” Rep. Joe Morelle (D-N.Y.) said, “but I haven’t had a chance to talk to him.”
Of course, Bowman’s office has already admitted he’s responsible for pulling the fire alarm, so there isn’t a question about the culprit’s identity.
So, O of C, committed wittingly and malicious intent, open and shut, without even an ass-covering “alleged” necessary. Beyond censure and expulsion, might we expect this confessed felon to face a stiff jolt in prison for his crime, a la the J6 perps, then? Oh, puh-LEEZE. Let’s not anybody be holding our breath, mmmkay?
Rep. Bowman Must Face Severe Consequences for Fire Alarm Stunt
As we previously reported here a PJ Media, Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-N.Y.) pulled a fire alarm in the Cannon House Office Building on Saturday. It was undoubtedly an attempt to delay (if not prevent) a House vote on a continuing resolution bill that would continue to fund the government for another 45 days and avert a government shutdown. If it wasn’t obvious that it’s the Democrats who want this shutdown to happen, Bowman’s actions should make it perfectly clear. We’ve seen this happen plenty of times in the past. Congress may be a deliberative body, but when Democrats don’t get their way, they act like children and complain and then blame Republicans for not going along with them. Compromise is not in their vocabulary. Both Clinton and Obama deliberately made the government shutdowns that occurred on their watch more painful, knowing full well that the media would parrot the narrative that Republicans were solely to blame for the situation.
So make no mistake about it, Democrats want a government shutdown. The stopgap measure that was being voted on when Bowman pulled the fire alarm would not only keep things funded another 45 days, but it would show that Republicans are negotiating in good faith to keep the government running.
Can’t have that, can we?
Bowman now faces potential censure and the less likely possibility of expulsion from Congress. I have little faith in the Democrats to hold Bowman accountable for anything, but he faces a bigger problem of being charged with a federal crime. According to 18 U.S. Code 1512(c), “Whoever corruptly...obstructs, influences, or impedes any official proceeding, or attempts to do so, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both.”
In short, Bowman’s crime is very serious, and regardless of what happens in the House, he needs to face federal charges. After all, as Bowman has said in the past, “No one in this country is above the law.”
No one is above the law, and he likely broke both federal and local laws with his stunt. Bowman must be held accountable.
“If they don’t charge Rep Bowman, with a crime for endangering the lives of those in the capitol & obstructing congressional proceedings then they better let every single J6er that’s rotting in prison for nonviolent offenses out with an apology & compensation right f*****g now!” Donald Trump Jr. said in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter)
Trump is right. What will the Biden administration do? The Justice Department doesn’t exactly have a stellar record of holding Democrats accountable and has, in fact, gone out of its way to protect them in some cases.
I repeat: let’s not anybody be holding etc. Because we all already know only too well what’s going to happen to this wretched, over-entitled asswipe: Zip. Zero. Nada. Not one blessed thing. This, like so many other news stories which happen to be inconvenient for D卐M☭CRATs, is already being meticulously swept under the rug; in looking around for something—anything—on it just now, I had to dig pretty deep at my usual haunts to come up with anything beyond the days-old initial mentions.
The travesty of justice inflicted on the J6 defendants will be doubled and redoubled when Bowman waltzes away without even an obligatory slap on the wrist; if his fellow Congresscritters, Republicrat and Demican alike, bother with so much as a toothless censure of their distinguished and “honorable” colleague, I will be very surprised.
Prison time? It is to laugh, most bitterly. Trump Jr’s justly-outraged demand for equal treatment before the law is well taken, but it’s no more than pissing in the wind; rest assured, his father will be rockin’ orange WAY before Jamaal Bowman is required to answer for his felonious actions. If there’s ever been a more pluperfect, in-your-face demonstration of Amerika v2.0’s two-tiered “justice” system in action, I’m not sure I even want to know what it might be.
Anybody else get the feeling that, even with this, we still haven’t seen the worst of it yet? Or is it just me?
